Welcome to Clever Parrot
We are all fascinated with birds that can talk. Not only are parrots beautiful in color
and movement, but the very fact that they can speak captures our attention in a way that few other birds can do.
Parrot's ability to talk or mimic is related to their gregarious nature. Parrots have
a long life span and are very social. In the wild, parrot chicks learn to mimic
vocalizations specific to their parents. As they play or work together, these parrots
repeat vocalizations to each other, which helps keep bonds strong.
There are many different types of parrots, each with an interesting history and
unique personality. With so many to choose from, it is important that before going
out and buying just any parrot, you know as much as possible about the specific
breeds available.
On this site we will firstly look at the different species of parrots available. Where you can buy your parrot and how best to pick
which one is right for you. We are then going
to take a close look at how you can establish a relationship with your parrot.
You will then learn how
to set up your parrots optimal environment, taking into account what cages, grooming, diet, toys etc.
After this you are going to discover a variety of techniques you can put into practise to
get your parrot to talk, including reproducing human speech.

Various Breeds continued...
Amazons continued....
The sexually mature males tend to be testy during the breeding season. Most
females remain even-tempered but with there being more males than females, the
chance of you getting a male is greater. Pet females are seldom offered for sale so
it can be hard finding breeding stock if the females are grabbed up as pets. Males
are often sold when they become sexually mature and bite a member of the family.
In captivity, it is found the parrots are most active from dawn to mid-morning and
then quiet down only to become active again from about late afternoon until dusk.
Training during these times is perfect since it is the bird's natural vocalization
period. These parrots are partial to dramatic singing and swearing and can be
quite entertaining. This parrot is a stocky-built bird with square-shaped tails.
They are mostly green with light bone or dark gray beaks and range in size from
10 to 16 inches. When determining what type of Amazon you have, check the
head coloration, then beak and foot color.
The males are bold birds that enjoy showing off their vocal skills and display more
often than the females. These parrots are not a good option for people with small
children or for hot-tempered individuals. Their high intelligence, speaking ability,
adaptability, hardiness, and desire for human companionship makes them one of
the best groups of parrots for pets when handled correctly. They have fantastic
memories and will remember incidents and training for months and even years.
These birds are also very stubborn and once they have decided to do something, it
will be very difficult to get them to stop. Amazons want to be near owners but do
not necessarily enjoy cuddling. By nature, Amazons do not like their backs
touched although most Amazons want to have their heads lightly rubbed and some
will twist their heads completely around so that you can rub under their chins.
They are easily motivated to perform and many thrive on being before an
audience. Most are outgoing and confident birds but some species keep their
problems to themselves and pick their feathers when upset. These birds are very
open and when upset, will quickly let you know by screaming or biting.
