Welcome to Clever Parrot
We are all fascinated with birds that can talk. Not only are parrots beautiful in color
and movement, but the very fact that they can speak captures our attention in a way that few other birds can do.
Parrot's ability to talk or mimic is related to their gregarious nature. Parrots have
a long life span and are very social. In the wild, parrot chicks learn to mimic
vocalizations specific to their parents. As they play or work together, these parrots
repeat vocalizations to each other, which helps keep bonds strong.

Various Breeds continued...
Amazons continued....
Amazona aestiva - Blue Fronted Amazon
Very popular, during a six-year period, approximately 97,000 of these
parrots were legally imported into the United States. They are intelligent,
beautiful, and most are excellent talkers. They seldom have a standoff
attitude and become deeply involved with humans. These birds are hardy
and have long life spans with the oldest known to live 117 years. A little
larger in size, the parrots range from 14 to 15 inches and have a large
variation in color combinations.
Amazona ochrocephala auropalliata - Yellow-Naped Amazon
This is one of the most symmetrically shaped of all the Amazons. These
birds are known for their intelligence and talking ability. Napes have very
human voices and tend to be low without being gruff. Their vocalization is
quite interesting because the use inflection rather than speak in a monotone.
They are also known for their incredible singing ability and most even have
a good sense of pitch. The males can be more difficult to handle as they
reach sexual maturity so early training is necessary. These birds have a
tendency to challenge other males that are similar in coloration. They enjoy
showing off and display frequently. They are clever and have great
personalities and usually grow from 12 to 15 inches.
Amazona ochrocephala oratrix - Double Yellow-Head Amazon
Probably the best known of all the Amazons, this parrot can grow up to 16
inches. The males may challenge other males of similar coloration. There
are reports that some of these birds feigned difficulty in breathing and make
loud breathing sounds when stressed or frightened similar to the Pionus.
These are highly intelligent and imaginative birds that have remained a
staple in the pet bird trade. They are considered very good talkers and
singers.
